Weston Tennis Center, Weston, Florida – tennistravelsite.com

Last January, upon entering the Weston Tennis Center (Weston, Florida),  I saw a great tennis shirt that described me, Tennis Addict, by Lacoa Sports (which I immediately purchased).   I was off to a great start to my tennis weekend, at the Weston Tennis Center, run by Cliff Drysdale Tennis.

I was introduced to Cliff Drysdale Tennis, when I attended a traveling tennis clinic in Warren, NJ, at Warren Health and Racquet Club, over ten years ago.  Since then, I have experienced “Cliff Drysdale Tennis” at a couple of Ritz-Carlton properties.  This particular Cliff Drysdale Tennis was not at a Ritz-Carlton, but at the very impressive WestonTennis Center, about 30 minutes from the Fort Lauderdale airport.

During our visit to Weston, we stayed at a Marriott property (we are brand loyal) a few minutes away from the tennis center.  There were many hotel properties close to the Weston Tennis Center.   In previous years, we had the opportunity to visit a couple of times, as guests of my former tennis partner, at Vacation Village (adjacent to the Weston Tennis Club), but had never had the opportunity to participate in any of the programs at the tennis center.   The Pros were excellent at providing tennis drills to challenge every level on the court, but most importantly, they were welcoming and energetic.

The Weston Tennis Center was a very well manicured tennis facility with over 16 tennis courts (15 har tru).   By 9:00 am, all the courts were filled with tennis players of all ages.  In the beginning of the clinic, everyone was somewhat quiet.  At the end of the drill, we were louder than the kids’ courts.  It was great congratulating your drill partner on a shot well made!  Each court had six tennis players, to one Pro.  Two hours flew by quickly.

Since we were celebrating an anniversary, we made the most of our weekend with a few stops.  Our first stop was at the Blue Martini in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (where our story began) to celebrate our anniversary with a “Blue Martini”.    After we left Weston Tennis Center, our next stop was about an hour south, The Ritz-Carlton, Key Biscayne, Florida, for more tennis (our friend, Sol, attended the Sunday morning tennis drill, which made our tennis drill group extra fabulous) and hours of salsa dancing with our favorite Cuban Band, Grupo Nostalgia, which completed our weekend.

A quick January weekend in Florida was such a glorious escape from the bitter cold of the Northeast.   We enjoyed every moment — on the tennis courts and poolside, basking in the warm Florida sun!  The Weston Tennis Club offered everything we needed to fulfill our tennis needs.  On our way home, we quickly decided that we would return next month for the Delray Beach Open, and would definitely try to stop at Weston Tennis Club to further explore this wonderful tennis destination.
