Tennis outfit!
Roger Federer tennis hat. This hat is a classic hat, and perfect to wear when playing tennis! We noticed when we go to tennis tournaments that the popular Federer gear always sells out. To go along with the Federer tennis hat, consider a new tennis outfit and/or tennis shoes. My husband never buys clothing for himself, so if I didn’t do it, no one would. Something a little different, check out uniglo.com for Roger’s outfit…or you can find just about anything else on one of the tennis stores online (tenniswarehouse, tennis express….)
Tennis bag!
A new tennis bag. Did you know that the 3 pack tennis Head bag fits great in the overhead compartment of most airplanes? This was put to test when we showed up for to the gate at our last flight not realizing that they decided to board the plane 30 minutes early. There was limited space for our carry-on bags. My husband slipped his tennis bag in a space which I had previously said, “there is no way that bag is going to fit up there.” He proved me wrong. (Tennis tip: for the tennis player who likes to travel with his tennis racquets, I like to recommend the full size, insulated tennis bag, to protect the strings from the different climate changes).

Tennis sunglasses!
Maui Jim sunglasses. I’ve tried so many brands of sun glasses and have found that the Maui Jim sun glasses are the best for playing tennis. It is worth paying a little more money for them. My husband has to wear a prescription, so that would take a little more planning. If you purchase the glasses through the optician, then the glasses are sent to Maui Jim with the prescription. You will then have your own prescription sunglasses which will protect your eyes! They are so good that one of my tennis partners opened up her Maui Jim sunglass case at a match and said, I can’t believe my husband borrowed my sunglasses again. All the more reason to get him his own Maui Jim sunglasses! He will love them.

Tennis lessons!
Purchase a gift certificate for tennis lessons, either group or private lessons work! It is wonderful to have a tennis partner to play with. I work on my ground strokes when I hit with my husband, when we play singles.
Tennis weekend!
If you are looking for a great place to play tennis, and other warm weather activities, think about the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Florida. It is only a three-hour flight from the New York area. This resort has an outstanding tennis facility, The Cliff Drysdale Tennis Center. Every day, there is at least one tennis clinic where tennis players are grouped by ability. After tennis, enjoy the beach, spa and one of the many great restaurants. On the weekends, the resort has entertainment or you can choose to venture off property to check out the Miami, Florida scene, such as South Beach, Florida.

Another fun tennis weekend in New York (indoor in the winter), is Total Tennis. This rustic location is located in Saugerties, New York (about 1 1/2 hours from New York City). They have great tennis camps year round for all levels. They also have paddle tennis!
